Two private homes rather than a portfolio. One in Foggy Bottom, one on Capitol Hill, both run by the same host since 2021.
Most vacation rental sites hand you a thousand listings and no way to tell which host will answer the phone. We have two homes. Both are whole private houses, not rooms or units in a building, both are professionally cleaned between stays, and both are run by Andrew, who owns them and answers his own messages. Guests mention him by name in nearly half of all reviews, which is not something a thousand-listing site can offer.
Families make up most of our guests, usually staying three or four nights, usually here to see the city on foot. Both houses are set up for that: full kitchens, laundry, a patio with a grill, and enough separate rooms that nobody is working from the foot of a bed.

Where each home puts you
Foggy Bottom is two blocks from the GWU campus and six minutes from the Foggy Bottom Metro on the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines. The Kennedy Center is eight minutes on foot, the Georgetown Waterfront twelve, and the Lincoln Memorial end of the National Mall is under twenty. Capitol Hill sits on a quiet residential block in Northeast Capitol Hill, five to six blocks from the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court, a ten minute walk to Union Station, and one block from Stanton Park. Eastern Market is a pleasant fifteen minute walk and the H Street corridor about twelve. It is the larger and the quieter of the two, and the one families with six people choose. Why guests pick a house over a hotel here
- A full kitchen. KitchenAid appliances, dining for six, and everything already in the cupboards. Washington restaurants are excellent and expensive, and not every night needs to be one.
- Laundry in the house. Full-size washer and dryer, supplies included.
- Separate rooms. Children asleep in one, adults awake in another.
- A patio and a grill at both homes, which is a rare thing this close to the middle of a city.
- A workspace with a printer, scanner, and copier at both, alongside gigabit internet on a Wi-Fi 6 router.
- Somebody who answers. Questions go to Andrew, before, during, and after the stay.
Getting around
You will not need a car, and both homes are chosen by guests who arrive without one. If you drive, Foggy Bottom includes a private off-street space, which in this part of the city is close to unheard of and the thing guests raise most often unprompted. At Capitol Hill, street parking is free and we register your plate with the city before you arrive, so there is nothing to display and nothing to feed. Union Station puts the Red Line, Amtrak, and the buses ten minutes from that front door.

The rate on this site is the best available rate for any set of dates. On VRBO and Booking.com that is because the guest service fee, typically 10 to 20 percent, is not added. Are there vacation rentals available in downtown Washington, DC?
Both of ours are close to the center without being in it, which is what most visitors actually want. Foggy Bottom is a walk from the White House, the Kennedy Center, and the Lincoln Memorial end of the National Mall. Capitol Hill is five to six blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Both sit on quiet residential streets rather than above a lobby.
Are there pet-friendly vacation rentals near the National Mall?
Yes. One dog of 50 pounds or under is welcome at either home for $200 per stay, and both have an enclosed patio. The Foggy Bottom home is the closer of the two to the Mall and the memorials.
Which home is better for visiting the Smithsonian museums?
Either works, and neither needs a car. Foggy Bottom is closer to the western end of the Mall, near the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam and Korean War memorials. Capitol Hill is closer to the eastern end, near the Air and Space Museum and the Capitol. Both are a short Metro ride to anywhere on the Mall.
Do your Washington DC vacation rentals include parking?
Foggy Bottom includes a free private off-street space, 21 feet by 10 feet, with complimentary use of a ChargePoint Level 2 EV charger. Capitol Hill has free street parking: before arrival we send a short vehicle form and register your license plate with the city at no charge. It is plate based, with nothing to display, and guests usually park right in front of the house, larger vehicles included.
