Is booking direct really cheaper than the platforms?
Yes. On VRBO, direct booking removes the guest service fee, which is typically 10 to 20 percent. Airbnb and Booking.com build their commission into the nightly rate instead, so our direct rate is set below theirs for the same dates. You can verify any set of dates yourself in another tab.
What is the parking situation at each home?
Foggy Bottom includes a free private off-street parking space (21 ft by 10 ft) with complimentary use of a ChargePoint Level 2 EV charger. Capitol Hill has free street parking made seamless: before arrival we send a quick vehicle form and register your license plate with the city at no charge. It is all plate based with nothing to display, and guests usually park right in front of the home, larger vehicles included.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is after 4:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM at both homes. Early check-in and late check-out are available on request, based on availability. Entry is by keypad smart lock with a personalized code sent before arrival.
Are pets allowed?
One dog of 50 pounds or less is welcome at either home for a $200 per-stay fee.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full refund if you cancel 21 or more days before check-in. No refunds within 21 days of arrival.
Is there a minimum stay or age requirement?
Minimum stays vary by date and season and are shown automatically on the booking calendar; most are two or three nights. The primary renter must be 30 or older. No smoking and no events at either home.
How do the two homes differ?
Foggy Bottom has 2 bedrooms, sleeps 5, and includes private off-street parking with EV charging, two blocks from GWU. Capitol Hill is a fully renovated 1895 Victorian with 3 bedrooms, sleeps 6, board games for the family, and permitted street parking, five to six blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Both homes have a dedicated workspace with a printer, scanner, and copier.
What is the neighborhood like around the Foggy Bottom home?
Foggy Bottom is one of DC's quieter, established neighborhoods. The home sits on a tucked-away residential street, a short walk from Georgetown, George Washington University, the Foggy Bottom Metro and the Kennedy Center. The area is patrolled by both the DC Metropolitan Police and GWU's own police department, and there's steady foot traffic from families, students and professionals through the day and evening. Your parking space is private and attached to the rear of the home, and the patio is fully fenced with a gated entry.
Do the homes work for families with young children?
Yes. Both homes keep a Pack 'n Play, high chairs, a baby bath, and safety gates available on request, and each home has board games for family nights. The guest twin beds convert to a king at both homes, so tell us your preferred setup before arrival.
Is the internet fast enough for remote work?
Both homes have gigabit (1 Gbps) Wi-Fi 6 and a dedicated desk, plus Ethernet and a Brother printer, scanner, and copier.
