About your host
Thirty years of travel taught me what makes a terrific stay.
I'm Andrew Ibbotson. I have spent three decades as a commercial airline pilot, which means thousands of nights away from home in every kind of accommodation, in cities all over the world. My early stays in short-term rentals showed me how much a well-located, thoughtfully equipped home can change a trip. That is what convinced me to start hosting in 2021.
I own and personally run both homes on this site: one in Foggy Bottom, one on Capitol Hill. I stock them the way I wish every rental I ever stayed in had been stocked, describe them exactly as they are, and answer my own messages. When guests write that I "doubled as a tour guide," that is the part of this work I enjoy most. DC is my city, and I like helping people get the best of it.
How I host
Before you arrive. You will hear from me with everything you need: your personal keypad code, parking arranged (on Capitol Hill I register your plate with the city), any baby equipment set up, and a digital guide to the neighborhood with the places I send guests. Most of what guests thank me for afterwards is something they did not know to ask about.
During your stay. Check-in is self check-in with your own code, and the home is entirely yours. I am available by message throughout your stay, and I answer my messages myself.
Between stays. Each home is professionally cleaned between every stay and restocked: coffee and pantry staples, laundry supplies, premium linens and bath products.
Two homes, two neighborhoods
Foggy Bottom puts you by the memorials, the Kennedy Center and Georgetown, with a private parking space and an EV charger. Capitol Hill is a fully renovated 1895 Victorian five to six blocks from the U.S. Capitol and a ten minute walk from Union Station, with a third bedroom for larger families. Compare the two homes.
